Description

Featuring an Allen socket head and finished in bright zinc plating, this screw is suitable for the early unit-construction Triumph 350 and 500 primary chain case cover and Triumph 650 outer gearbox cover through 1968. This listing is for (1) screw.

The UK-made screw measures 2-3/4″ under head and is threaded to 1/4″-26 TPI British Standard Fine. The threads run approximately 1″ up the shank of the screw.

A total of (2) of these screws are used to secure the outer gearbox cover on the 650 models, where they pass through the inner cover and thread into the gearbox. (3) screws are used to secure the primary chain case cover directly to the chain case on the 350 and 500 models.

An Allen key or socket is used to tighten the screw into the housing. Care must be taken not to overtighten the screw, as the fine threads of the steel screw are prone to pulling the threads from the soft aluminum drillings when overtightened. Thread locking compound is not recommended for use on cover screws.
