The T160 Trident model debuted the updated version of the tachometer drive gearbox assembly with threaded access plugs in both ports, a revision from the earlier type with a pressed-in “welch plug”, which was prone to falling out. This threaded plug has left-hand threads and is located on the bottom of the tachometer drive body and secures the driven gear. This listing is for (1) end plug.
This alloy plug measures 1″ across the outer face, with a thread diameter of 7/8″. The left-hand threads are 20 TPI. The depth of the threads is 3/8″ under head. Made in the UK.
The alloy plug replaces the original dull-finish Mazak metal plug and is sealed with an o-ring.
The plug is threaded into the bottom of the tachometer drive gearbox and retains the driven gear. A wide blade is recommended for tightening the plug into place to avoid distortion to the slot on the face of the plug.
