This rectangular gauze air filter element is designed for fitment to the airbox found on 1971-1972 oil-in-frame Triumph and BSA 650 models. A total of (2) filter elements are required for the airbox.
Manufactured in the UK to exacting standards, this filter element measures approximately 6-11/16″ in length, 3-1/8″ wide, and 1-3/8″ deep. This is the “open” type without the baffle plate in the center.
The filter element is captured between the airbox housing and aluminum cover, as specified for the early OIF models. When installed, it will compress to form a seal between the body and the cover.
The air filter element is accessed by removing the plug and loosening off the retaining nut to withdraw the cover and element. Once positioned against the airbox body, the cover is fitted over the element. When the cover is fully tightened into place, it will slightly deform the pleats of the element.Â
