New cylinder barrel was handled poorly during shipment from the UK. One of the fins is broken.
This new production cylinder barrel is suitable fitment for the 1973-1980 Triumph 750 twin-cylinder models with 76mm pistons (from engine number T140V XH22020 and TR7V AH 24041). Not suitable for the early 75mm bore models.
The cast iron cylinder barrel is finished on standard bore and manufactured in the UK for LF Harris. Supplied with a gloss black finish. May require finish honing prior to fitment of the pistons.
When the cylinder overbore reaches .040″ and symptoms such as a loss of compression, heavy oil consumption, and smoking exhaust are present, a Triumph 750 cylinder barrel is often deemed to be at the end of its service life. A new cylinder barrel is fitted to restore original performance, along with new standard-bore pistons and rings.
The top end of the engine from the cylinder base up must be removed for cylinder barrel replacement. This procedure is outlined in the factory workshop manual but may best left to a specialist to carry out the top-end overhaul.
