This comprehensive stainless Allen head case cover screw set replaces the original Posidrive screws for the primary chaincase cover, timing cover, and outer gearbox cover. Suitable for use on 1969-later Triumph B-range engines with coarse UNF threads.
Sourced from Tri-Cor in the UK, the stainless-steel screws are corrosion resistant and can be repeatedly removed and re-installed without damage to the heads. The majority of the screws are 1/4″-20 TPI, but the (2) 5/16″-18 TPI primary cover screws are also included, as are the (2) fine thread 2BA points cover screws.
Case cover screws are used to secure removeable cover panels from the crankcase and gearbox. Gaskets, or in some cases, sealants provide oiling sealing for each cavity. It is important to make sure each screw is adequately tightened to promote oil tightness. Overtightening Allen head screws can lead to warpage of the case cover.
It is advisable to clean the threads in the crankcase with a tap to allow for best thread retention and an oil-tight seal between the case covers and the crankcase. Thread-locking compound is not recommended for use on cover screws.
