The clutch nut retaining tab washer is important as it locks the nut onto the mainshaft once the tabs are bent up over the flats on the nut.
Thin locking tab washer is used to allow the clutch nut to be tightened to the correct torque setting, then retains the position of the nut when the tabs are bent up over the flats of the nut.
