The fork seal retaining washer not only supports the rubber seal, it acts as a fork spring abutment at the top of the spring.Â
The retainer sits under the rubber seal on the fork tube directly under the lower fork yoke. It makes a seal with the bottom of the fork ear on each fork tube assembly.
The fork tubes must be removed from the fork yokes to fit the retainer and the accompanying rubber seal.
