Introduced for the 1962 model year, this matched set of silencers were specified for the BSA unit-construction 500 and 650 twins and were used through the 1970 model year. These are top quality reproduction silencers and are the perfect choice for a restoration where original specification is a priority.
These economically-priced Emgo silencers feature the classic original styling and have 1-1/2″ ID inlets with an overall length of approximately 25″. Can be fitted to either side of the motorcycle as the slotted mounting system is the same for each side.
This style of silencer produces a throaty exhaust note due to the straight-through design, with a perforated screen retaining the packing material, which runs the length of the resonator. Some slight carburetor tuning may be necessary after fitment.
The inlets of the silencers fit over the ends of the exhaust pipes and are secured with clamps. There is a slotted mounting channel on the backside of each silencer for the bolts that attach to the mounting brackets. It is advisable to loosen the exhaust system while fitting the silencers to allow for adjustments to the alignment prior to tightening down the hardware.
