The early unit-construction Triumph 650 models were not equipped with the speedometer gearbox drive unit fitted to the rear hub, but rather with a special speedometer gear driven by the transmission. As a result, the rear hub is fitted with a unique rear hub bearing dust shield on the right-hand side of the hub for the 1963-1965 models.
The steel dust shield measures 2.125″ OD, with a hole size of 1.070″. Made in the UK.
The dust shield protects the wheel bearing from contamination and serves as a guide for the right-side inner sleeve nut to pass through.
The rear wheel must be removed from the swinging arm to access the hub for service. Refer to the factory workshop manual for rear wheel service procedures.Â
