Please note, in some instances, a slight modification to the jaws of the puller may be required to achieve adequate fitment over the back of the crankshaft pinion. This modification involves lightly grinding the jaws to increase the angles, allowing deeper penetration of the jaws to clear the recessed pocket in the crankcase. In addition, a small amount of material may also be needed to be ground off the ends of each jaw to make them thinner and able to reach behind the pinion. When using this puller on a Norton engine, the user must be mindful of the NMT 2007 crank pinion backing washer, which is triangular-shaped and locates the jaws behind the crank pinion.”
