Introduced as an economical alternative to the Amal Premier Concentric series of carburetors, the Wassell Evolution range of carburetors feature jets, throttle valves, floats, and needles that are interchangeable with the Amal Concentric series of carburetors. This right-hand 30mm carburetor is a direct replacement for the Amal 930 carburetor introduced in late 1967 for the 1968 model year. This listing is for (1) carburetor.
This 30mm right-hand Evolution carburetor is jetted for use on twin carburetor applications, where 30mm bore manifolds are fitted. Set up for BSA and Triumph 650 and 750 twins, it is supplied with a 3.0 throttle valve, .106 needle jet, and 200 main jet. The hard-anodized throttle valve and ethanol-resistant float are standard equipment on the Evolution. This carburetor can be set up for various applications with changes to the slide cutaways and main jets.
For use on the single-carburetor Triumph TR6 and TR7 models, a 3.5 cutaway throttle valve and 230-280 main jet can be fitted to convert the 30mm Evolution to single-carburetor condition. Also suitable for fitment to BSA B44 and B50 models, as well as others, with the appropriate jetting and throttle valve specifications.
The mounting flange is fitted to the inlet manifold studs and secured with nuts. The banjo fitting at the bottom of the float bowl is retained with a special bolt that allows introduction of fuel into the float bowl. Supplied with a choke assembly. The top cap cable adjusters are removed and the caps drilled out when fitting to Triumph models using the correct Triumph throttle cable with the shouldered ferrule.
