Renold was the original supplier of drive chains to the British motorcycle industry and is widely considered the brand by which all other chain manufacturers are measured by.
The 84 link endless three-row “Triplex” primary drive chain is manufactured in the UK by Renold to the highest standards for optimal fit and durability in the Triumph TR7, and T140 models.
The primary drive chain connects the engine sprocket to the clutch chainwheel sprocket. A chain tensioner pad is adjusted to maintain the correct tension of the primary chain between the two sprockets.
The primary chaincase cover is removed to gain access to the primary drive system. Generally, the stator and clutch chainwheel must be removed to install the primary drive chain. The factory workshop manual instructions should be followed to ensure the job is performed correctly.
