The integrity of the mainshaft ratchet pinion spring is important to the operation of the kickstart system on the later pre-unit and unit-construction 650 and 750 models. Also specified for the T150 triples.
This reproduction kickstart ratchet spring is manufactured in the UK to the original specifications and dimensions.
The ratchet pinion spring slides over the floating pinion sleeve and bears against an inboard washer and the kickstarter pinion, allowing the pinion to engage with the ratchet when the kickstart lever is engaged and retract when the lever is released.
Replacement of the ratchet spring involves removal of the outer gearbox cover to access the mainshaft and the related kickstart components. Refer to the factory workshop manual for details on the procedure.
