The dual seat is a visually prominent part of the restored motorcycle, and the seat cover should be finished in the correct pattern and color. This grey ribbed top cover is correct for the home market and US-specification 1967 Triumph 350, 500 and 650 models, excluding the competition models. The 1968 home market 500 models also were specified with this seat cover.
The cover features white piping around the top of the cover and is finished off with a separate trim strip around the base of the cover. The Triumph logo is applied in a bright gold finish at the rear of the seat. Quality manufactured in the UK.
Although correct for the 1967 500 and 650 models, as well as the 1968 500 models, the cover can also be fitted to the 1969-1970 650 models and 1969-1974 500 models for those that prefer the smooth ribbed pattern over the basketweave pattern, as fitted to the later models with the same shaped seat pan and seat foam.
The seat cover is stretched over the foam padding and seat pan and retained by either sprags, seat pan tabs, or adhesive. A separate trim strip around the base of the seat pan finishes the seat cover. Seat recovering requires skills that may be best reserved for a professional upholstererÂ
