The top brake hose connects the master cylinder to the top pipe, at the upper fork yoke, and is sealed with copper washers. The correct length is determined by the style and height of the handlebar mounted master cylinder assembly.
The hose is threaded directly into the end of the master cylinder barrel, with a copper sealing washer at the junction. It terminates into the upper pipe, where it makes another junction sealed with a copper washer. The brake system must be bled after brake hose and fluid replacement.
