The fender serves as the mount for the tail lamp assembly and is supported by a cross bridge between the top shock absorber mounts and a bracket welded to the rear frame loop.

The mudguard is loosely fitted to the mounting points to check alignment and establish the position for the drilled holes. A stepped drill bit is useful for drilling through the heavy gauge steel.
